Tyson Barrie was born July 26, 1991 and is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the third round, 64th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Following the 2018–19 season, Barrie began to be featured in trade rumours due to the emergence of young Avalanche defencemen Samuel Girard, Cale Makar and Bowen Byram, the latter of which was drafted at the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
